Coral Reefs and Mangroves
Coral Reefs
We really like this photo, because you can tell that the corals are so near the surface, since there is a reflection. It makes it really pretty.
We really like this photo, because this reef shows that there are many fish that are supported by it. As well as, the colour of the fish is really nice.
We really like this photo, because it's a very artistic shot. Showing the many different kinds of beautiful pink coral reef, in a blue ocean, and a diver in the background.
This photo is very appealing to us, because of the artistic shot. The picture shows half of underwater and half above water, which is really pretty since you can not only see the reef, but also its surroundings above water.
Mangroves
This photo is really nice, because the picture is so high definition that the colours really stand out. The leaves, the roots, the white sand, the clear ocean, and the blue sky are amazing.
We like this photo, because you can see both underwater and above water. The roots of the tree are surrounded by starfish making this photo especially pretty.
This photo is another artistic one, having a single mangrove present within complete nothingness of the shallow white sand bar surrounded by ocean and blue sky.
This photo is appealing, because the mangrove again is all alone in the middle of the ocean. As well as, the ocean is shallow enough to be able to see all of the pneumatophores spread out across the ocean floor. The sunset especially helps, as well.

Grade 2 Visit Reflection
Today our whole geo class went to the lower school computer lab to work on Google Earth with the kids of Ms. Hunter's grade 2 class. I had two 8 year olds in my group and their names were Seoyou and Floor. I got along with both of them really well and we worked together having fun traveling to different places around the globe. They found it very fascinating to be able to see buildings and mountains in 3D and especially that we were able to make a circle around the Eiffel Tower as if we were really there.
It was an amazing experience to have with the kids. Especially that they found Google Earth so fascinating. I got along especially well with Floor as she is also Dutch. We were able to speak Dutch to each other the entire time, yet also being considerate of Seoyou. We were not able to complete the whole tour, actually just get started with it, as we explored many landmarks and interesting countries they did not have as their special places to visit. Going into the activity I was really nervous to work with kids, since it's outside of my comfort zone, not having younger siblings myself. Yet, as I was able to joke around, make them laugh, and have loads of fun with them, it turned out not being so bad after all.
Once the activity was done and we went downstairs for snacks with them Floor shared some of her food with me and we were able to spend more time together. This experience was amazing, it was really fun playing around with a geography related app and would love to do it again, kids aren't so bad after all.

China becomes lenient with the One-Child Policy
China is not as strict about their one-child policy anymore and are allowing adults that are an only child to have 2 children instead of just 1. They are making these changes due to the aging population they are facing now and this will take a toll on not having enough in the working class to take care of all these elderly living off of pension. In the countryside they are being more lenient about it and allowing families to have two kids if the first was a girl. Many couples in China go through abortions if they have a girl, since many want a boy to be able to work and take care of the parents when they are older. Yet it says that, "By the end of the decade, demographers say China will have 24 million "leftover men" who, because of China's gender imbalance, will not be able to find a wife." (BBC News - China reforms: One-child policy to be relaxed).
